  • On October 30, 1918, under the Mudros peace agreement, southwestern Georgia was handed to England. The occupation regime of England was established in Batumi district. General Cook-Collis was appointed as the military governor of the district, who established a complete dictatorship of the British here. He produces a lot of statements. He issued a number of commands. Batumi district was divided into administrative units, and the city council and the board were dismissed. Financial and economic sanctions were tightened, and demonstrations and strikes were banned. The British occupation regime lasted until July 1920.
